The 2014 "It's a Breast Thing" Event
The year 2014 has been a great year for It's a Breast Thing Non Profit. We are pleased to say that our 7th year has been our most successful in supporting our local breast cancer patients with their out of pocket expenses during treatment in Ingham, Eaton, Clinton and Shiawassee counties with a total of 18 grants awarded. Supporting our local breast cancer patients is made possible because of our wonderful sponsors and all of the many participants and guests that take part in our October, It's a Breast Thing Event, which was held at Eagle Eye Golf Club on Tuesday October 7th.
It was a fabulous night with approximately 550 guests (girlfriends, couples, singles) coming out to vote for or bid on their favorite bra, to hear all the information our exhibitors had to share, to enjoy food and drink, help a great cause with generous donations and to pre-order their 2015 It's a Breast Thing calendars. The calendars feature the top 12 voted bras from the event. The bras are modeled by local breast cancer survivors at a photo shoot which was held on Sunday October 19th.
Later in the evening our guests enjoyed all the wonderful & current information learned at the program "Breast Cancer in the News" lead by Dr. LaKeeya Tucker and local experts.....Dr. Suzanne Hanses, Dr. Timothy McKenna, Dr. Vesnau Kaluza and Dr. Deimante Tamkus. Our survivors where recognized along with past calendar models.
Music was generously donated by Attorney Charles Ford and our photographer for the event and the photo shoot (JD Small Studios) donated his services. The event was hosted by Malinda Barr & Tom Barron who kept guests informed and entertained! Our many volunteers made the evening possible with the donation of their time as well! What a terrific event for a fabulous cause! Thank you all so much for helping to make this dream a continued reality for our community.
